Sovereignty... my random thoughts on the subject

Sovereignty~ (for those who have no idea even what this "church'y" word might mean): It is believing that God is the ultimate authority in the decision-making process. That all things good and bad happen because God is in control... not necessarily that He caused it; but He allowed it. And then you get into free will... all that fun debate that everyone has an opinion about;  all when you have to answer the question: "Do we have any control of our lives or does "God" have ALL the control?" Richard and I have fun talks on the subject and sometimes we come to different conclusions~ but its all good because really this is just one of the mysteries that none of us can really fully understand. And does not need to cause division among believers as to where they stand on the issue.

So now that I have attempted to explain it a little~ just wanted to share how a verse Im sure I have read before today just jumped off the page at me:

Oh how great are God's riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways! For who can know the Lords' thoughts? Who knows enough to give Him advice? And who has given him so much that He needs to pay it back? For EVERYTHING comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for HIS GLORY. All glory to HIM forever! Romans 11:33-36

I do not understand God and His ways~  MY WAY is not His Ways often~ I don't want to suffer, I Want my daughter to be healed NOW!; I want my Husband to have a Job, NOW; I don't want to watch my friends suffer through unspeakable heartache... Why do you allow these things to happen??

And the answer is, its all for HIS glory, we see beauty come from ashes~  Its not about me...or you, He has lessons to teach us, He wants to show us how much HE loves us, And who am I to question GOD? or to think that He owes me anything?

I love these lines in the Keith and Kristy Getty song:

O Grant me Wisdom from above
To Pray for Peace and Cling to Love
And teach me humbly to receive
the sun and rain of your sovereignty
